Consulting firms rely heavily on case interviews to find the right candidate and, therefore, you should practice them – practice them well, start practicing them early (2-3 months prior to the interview), and then keep practicing them often. The 2 case interview styles are Interviewer-led and Interviewee-led cases.

Case coaching is an industry of its own. It seems like coaching is a necessary part of the consulting interview prep process and without it you don’t have a chance of getting an offer. It can be a tough decision as the price point for case coaching can be very high (10x more than the average hourly wage in the US).

So, a few minutes into your case interview, the recruiter slides a chart across the table and asks what you can tell from that particular exhibit. The objective of the chart is to help you drive the case forward by approving or disapproving your hypothesis of the business problem. Not practicing basic case interview mathematics.

What I am struggling with is keeping up with the interviewer, and still trying to note down key facts. Some information is more important than others.
