The cons of investment banking – the long hours, the repetitive and unengaging nature of the work, the lack of non-finance exit opportunities – mattered far more to me than a 6-figure salary. Self-analysis alone won’t give you a holistic picture of why you did not get an offer, so start by getting feedback from the recruiter and the interviewers. There may be training or informal coaching you can undertake to help you develop. The key thing to do after a rejection is to reflect on the interview process and ask for feedback.
