On Saturday May 10 I will be taking part in the Human Race , a fundraising event for Silicon Valley nonprofit organizations. The Human Race is an annual event produced by the Volunteer Center of Silicon Valley that brings together hundreds of organizations from Santa Clara and San Mateo Counties.

It’s surely how women in Silicon Valley feel today having all of the credentials, tools, attitude and behavior but somehow making others uncomfortable because of that. It was the perfect time and place to find out if I was good enough to put a price tag on my brain.

Still, I question whether or not this will result in a "one-plus-one-equals-three" situation, as suggested by Carl Guardino, CEO of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group. San Jose has long been the self-declared "capital of the Silicon Valley." I'm sure some in San Mateo feel the same about their resources heading south.

Back in May, I first wrote about the impending merger of the Peninsula Community Foundation and Community Foundation Silicon Valley. Then was the announcement of the new CEO for the new, merged foundation (to be called the Silicon Valley Community Foundation), Dr. Emmett Carson. I feared that it could result in a 1+1=1.5

Now that the ink is dry and the papers filed and the merger official and done, I can publicly reveal that the Interim Executive Director assignment I was working on for the past 8-1/2 months was for the Support Network for Battered Women (SNBW), and that as of April 1, 2010, Support Network is now a division of the YWCA of Silicon Valley.

It's a fabulous organization that I am proud to be a part of. The Human Race is your basic pledge walk/run with a 5K walk and 5K and 10K runs.
