I wasn't ready to give up, so I decided to reach out to some recruiters that were listed on the firm's websites (mistake). I got in touch with her, she had me add my GMAT (770; I should have had it on all along) to my resume , and got me in touch with the recruiter. The recruiter says, "Okay.". Then I got started with LinkedIn.

As long as you're not asking for months of extra time, a few extra days will not screw up their recruiting plans. and would risk hampering future recruiting efforts, especially in on-campus recruiting. I find the top firms are actually more likely to do this than the boutique firms. People will probably forget within a year.

In comparison, someone who has a set practice routine can simply decide practicing this area is important, include it as part of the pre-scheduled routine, and the practice will automatically take place (as part of the set routine) without having to "remember" to practice that skill area.

I'm not sure that the comparison of "McKinsey uses only frameworks" and "BCG does custom work" is necessarily true. Do not ask people in recruiting, ask the consultants -- ask enough people, you will get the most realistic answer. Any other important things you think as important. My Reply: First off, congratulations.
