1) On campus / Send in your Application - Recruiting. Here's the principle: Meet as many people who work in the management consulting firm you are trying to get into, and eventually good things happen. When I was at Stanford, McKinsey would come on campus to recruit in December or January each year (I forget the exact month).

I went through workshops offered by these firms and talked to numerous recruiters and consultants. I did the same for resume questions, i.e., I tried to structure my answers to questions like "Why our firm?" I hope we'll be able to meet one day. MBA consulting recruiting season starts every fall. I am commenting purely on recruiting for a post-MBA consulting position. Without having a grounded career understanding, online MBAs come to me unable to coherently decide if consulting is the right career opportunity to meet their professional and personal goals.

I hadn't applied during the regular recruiting season as I was planning on going directly to an MBA program and trying to get into consulting afterwards. This was the mental image I had in my mind when I was recruiting (and no information existed anywhere to counter this image. so it seemed like a better fit for me, so I focused.
