In compliance work, or on finance-focused projects, the broad-sweeping projections of strategy consulting don’t cut it. As mentioned in our previous post, financial consulting is a much better choice than a narrowly-defined role in internal finance (especially at a no-name corporation). Just a bit of networking will do you right!

If you are an undergrad who has been turned down for a summer internship at MBB, going in to finance is your next best bet. In addition, having a finance internship under your belt shows that you’ve got the necessary quant skills to succeed in consulting. For the Pre-MBA level, finance should be your last option.
