It turns out that preparing for case interviews is fairly similar to preparing for Taekwon-Do Competitions. It helped me a lot in getting ready for case interviews , and now I have an offer from BCG [ Eastern Europe ] and A.T. From a prestige factor, BCG is the better name to have on the consulting resume , particularly if you are early in your career and you do not have another big brand name employer preceding ATK or BCG.

You can generally tell whether you did well in an interview based on the connection you built with the interviewer. You have probably been in situations where an interview felt uneasy and awkward because of a lack of chemistry with the interviewer. The interview process is not a perfect system. Talk about them.

That being said, Alvarez & Marsal are still a prestigious and exciting firm, so working there will not look bad on your resume. I probably put in over 100 hours preparing , and only about 80 of those were for the case, I believe those additional 20 hours of prep for the experience portions helped put me over the top when competing with other candidates from more target schools. Basically, to get interviews, network, network and then network some more.
