Many lawyers we’ve heard from would rather be involved in proactive strategy vs. reactive strategy – being involved in setting a company’s course as opposed to being called in to fix something after it’s gone wrong. Why is this important? Not sure how to network effectively or reach out to cold contacts?

From a prestige factor, BCG is the better name to have on the consulting resume , particularly if you are early in your career and you do not have another big brand name employer preceding ATK or BCG. 4) Or at some point, quit BCG, live off savings, move to the country of your choice (assuming you have travel visas, etc.)

When it comes to recruiting the three big criteria are: networking, application package (cover letter, resume, and transcript), and interview. DO follow-up on my replies and build with natural conversation (good topics to mention are sports, food, and travel). The smoother it is, the better. Poor body language.

I contacted the McKinsey Director for Middle East offices (He is the most senior fellow I could find -- my strategy was to start from the top). I guess she noticed how much effort I was putting into doing my homework that she sent my resume to the head of Stanford recruiting and said, "You should really interview this guy."
