During this first step, you will need to provide materials like your Cover Letter, Resume and Transcripts/Test scores (GMAT, GRE, etc.). Step two is your first round interview. Step 3 is your second round interview. During Step 2 and 3, you will usually receive 2-3 rounds of management consulting interview modules.

At consulting firms like McKinsey, you will receive a personal experience interview (or McKinsey PEI). Sometimes an entire interview is devoted to these types of questions. Other times, you will receive 10 - 15 minutes of these kinds of questions before you get a case interview. This is why the case interview exists.
