When the students in the MBA course I teach on the gig economy ask me for the best thing they can do to prepare for their future careers, I tell them:
Why I Tell My MBA Students to Stop Looking for a Job and Join the Gig Economy

October 20, 2016
Summary.
Many MBA students look forward to a high-powered career in corporate America upon graduation, but should that really be their goal? No, argues Babson lecturer Diane Mulcahy, asserting that full-time, 9–5 “jobs” are disappearing and being replaced with “work.” She advises her students to look for plentiful work that also provides them with the autonomy and flexibility to maintain a proper work-life balance. While the Gig Economy continues to grow, MBA programs have fallen behind in their curriculum and career services offerings. Maybe it’s time for programs to prepare MBA students for the future by helping them build a diverse portfolio of projects, instead of pushing them into the roles of the past.
