In 2021, the United States experienced more firearm-related deaths than any year on record — 48,832 to be exact, according to provisional data published by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Firearms are now the leading cause of death among children and adolescents. Across our own health system, we’ve already seen more firearm injured patients this year than any other in our history.
