Changing the World (The Truth About Consulting)

I recently published a short post on LinkedIn saying “I haven’t decided if I’m going to change the world yet…”

That was a bit tongue-in-cheek.

The truth is, my team and I are changing the world. I’m very proud of that.

I believe many entrepreneurs feel the same way, yet don’t realize the impact they are having.

We’ve had several thousand people go through our workshops, courses, and coaching programs to become successful consultants and grow their businesses.

Does that change the world?

At first glance, maybe not. But look a little closer, dig a bit deeper and you’ll find a mountain of impact.

A consulting founder’s success is often equal to the value they create.

As their success grows, they help more people solve big problems and create improvements inside organizations.

An organization is made of people. When it improves and succeeds, those people usually share in that growth.

But it’s not only the people inside those organizations. It’s their clients and customers, their families, the communities and nonprofits that receive support too.

And don’t forget the consultant. Their success creates similar benefits for their team (whether full-time, part-time or contractors) – they all gain from the consultant’s success.

Then there’s the consultant’s family, the charities they support, their community.

There is a ripple effect. While at first it may not look like you’re changing the world, you likely are having a bigger impact than you think.

You may not be developing revolutionary new technology. But that doesn’t mean you aren’t making a difference.

You are changing the world. I know we are, and it feels good.
