The European Union will start to demand carbon footprint data from 2023 and introduce a carbon border tax from January 2026. EU importers and non-EU producers of these inputs will be required to pay around 75 EUR per metric ton of CO2 emissions. Currently, emissions are taxed much lower in China than in Europe.
