Trends vs. Predictions

Trends vs. Predictions

trend is a general direction in which change and evolution is taking place. “The statistics show a strong upward trend in sports betting online.”

prediction is a forecast (or guess) about the future. “The financial analyst for local television predicts a flat market for the next year.”

While trends aren’t guaranteed to continue, they are based on current, reliable, empirical evidence. Most predictions—even the weather relying heaving on technology—are always suspect. If not, we’d all have flying cars, the moon would be settled with colonies, all energy would be “clean,” and we would be disease-free.

Focus your clients (and yourself) on trends, not predictions.
