Attention

So a lot has been made of the need to curate our attention.

Here‘s some psych research examining the need for

critical ignoring

Source

They look at three cognitive strategies

  • self-nudging, ignoring temptations by removing them from your digital environment
  • lateral reading, vetting information and verifying its credibility elsewhere
  • do-not-feed-the-trolls heuristic, not rewarding malicious actors with attention.

They suggest that learning these strategies should be a part of every school curriculum.

How are you cultivating your ability to critically ignore?
