Introducing the Angelcheeks Foundation

The Nonprofit Consultant

This posting is a bit personal, as well as nonprofit related. A friend of mine lost his infant son a year ago to SIDS. While the family had insurance that covered the expenses of putting his son to rest, what they learned through the process was how many families are completely unprepared for such a tragedy. In living memory of their son, he and his wife have now founded the Angelcheeks Foundation, to make grants to families in need, and to education on issues surrounding Sudden Infant Death Syn

Great moments in consulting

The Crazy Lives of Consultants

There I was, at the project go-live party. Standing in a circle of client team members talking about where I would be off to next (hint: Charleston, WV was on the list). If you ever want to get into consulting, just give me a call!

Increasing Business Opportunities

Chad Barr

I believe that we have more control of impacting our destiny and creating success than chance or luck has to do with it. Here are three ideas that have been instrumental in impacting mine: Opportunities are all around us, we just have to learn to pay better attention to them. If you don’t ask the answer is always NO. When serendipity takes place, I seize the opportunity to create additional serendipity.

Your Customers And Competitors May Be Listening

Chad Barr

What You Say Online May Damage Your Credibility. As I write on this quite often, blogs are a powerful tool to enable you to rapidly publish content about you and your company. If done well, they can add tremendous credibility for your organization and create an online dialog between you and your customers. However, I would also like to caution you that if in the wrong hands, blogs might become a competitive advantage for your competitors.

How Much Intellectual Property Should You Give Away?

Chad Barr

How much should you share with potential clients when meeting with them and especially in your writing and on the web? I hear this question quite often and for years I was not a huge fan of “giving” away our IP and wisdom. Here is my belief now: If you think you are giving too much of it away, you are on the right track. Your clients will wonder if this is how much “free” advice you give them prior to becoming a client, how much would you then be giving them after they be

Success Or Death? It’s Your choice

The large amount of people who smoke in Israel is unfortunately alarming. Although I do not have the statistical evidence to substantiate my claim, ubiquitous smokers are strong enough anecdotal evidence. Here is a picture from the duty-free store in the Tel-Aviv airport proving the unfortunate popularity of cigarettes. Tremendous amount of real estate is taken with beautifully displayed, almost candy-like, stacked cartons of cigarettes.

The Art of Remote Collaboration: How to Successfully Whiteboard with Remote Teams

Just because we're working with a distributed team doesn't mean we have to abandon time-tested tools and methods like whiteboarding. Digital look-alikes often cramp creativity and all but eliminate the humanity of shared interactions. Hardware solutions are also limiting and, of course, expensive and immobile. In an increasingly digital and remote-first world, it’s important for us to select tools and processes that allow us to mitigate if not eliminate the above problems.
