Let your guard down, and be vulnerable: that’s what enables the most powerful moments of transformation.
  • Give and receive feedback graciously: If you’re part of a good community, you’ll sometimes receive critical feedback. Why? Because people will point out mistakes that you might be making so that you don’t have to go through the same pitfalls as they did. It may sting a little at the moment, but it will prevent pain and frustration in the long term. And don’t be afraid to point out other potential errors others might be making as well. As long as you are gracious when giving (and receiving) feedback, it will be appreciated.
  • Build relationships outside of the meetings: Consulting is a relationship business. There’s a serendipity element to it as well: you never know who will connect you to your next great client or next great team member. The networking aspect is one of the most powerful aspects of a mastermind. Take advantage of it by building relationships with the individuals in your group!
  • Pass your knowledge along to new members: Teaching is one of the best ways to solidify your knowledge. Be willing to help new consultants in the group. Not only will you help them level up their business, but you’ll improve your skills as well.
  • Take imperfect action: When you participate in a mastermind group or community, you’ll hear a lot of great ideas. Try those ideas out. See how they work in your consulting business. And then, in the next meeting, share how it worked for you. Taking action on what you learn in your mastermind is critical for getting to that next level.
