The travel and hospitality industries have been decimated, stock markets around the world have tanked, and governments struggle to combat this devil on so many fronts. The UK has 3,500 known cases of the virus and London will probably be shut down in the next week, if not before. Commerce has ground to a halt.

What this means is the owner’s salary, medical insurance, cell phone, car, travel, and more are added to profit because these items are “discretionary” not necessary. As an independent consultant, cash flow is erratic. For me it’s time with family and friends and traveling. Admittedly, I was lucky to have invested early in one of the longest bull markets in history, but I wasn’t a particularly savvy investor. Siphon off 40% of every client payment.

A 1932 research paper showed firms had loaded up with cash and post-crash, “companies were flush with cash and investors beleaguered,” which they wouldn’t pay out.
