My experiment continues, even with my terrible cold. (Just a cold.)

I’m Johanna Rothman, and this is 60 Seconds of Johanna’s WIP for October 19, 2023, where I read an excerpt of just a minute of some writing in progress.
This excerpt is from a short story, currently titled “Underdog Party,” which will be published in the Holiday Spectacular Kickstarter, link below.
“My black lightweight down jacket hung on the back of my chair. My Glock 43 was in its holster on the left side of my waist. I didn’t like to carry off duty, but I hadn’t gone home yet.
We all have first and second places—our home and work. But especially at the holidays, we all need a third place, where we meet with our people. The Chelsea Tavern was my third place. The regulars here even called me the mayor.
Just made me laugh—but not at them—at myself.
As if I could be a mayor of anything or anyone.”
