I'm continuing the experiment into 2024 for several reasons:
- If you want to write more, you don't need to write a lot at one time. I discovered that even if I get to Thursday afternoon, I can always write 100 words. That helps me make progress on some item/work in progress.
- I started this experiment to see if it would affect my content marketing. I learned I need more video content for it to have an effect.
- It's fun. I did not expect that, but that's part of what I learned.
Transcript:
I’m Johanna Rothman, and this is 60 Seconds of Johanna’s WIP for January 4, 2024, where I read an excerpt of just a minute of some writing in progress.
This excerpt is from the speaking book.
In 2023, I learned that YouTube is the second largest site for search.
I have no idea if that search statistic is accurate—and I don’t care. I do know this: I often want to search for text when I have a problem. But all the search engines often deliver videos in the results.
I don’t have to like videos. Clearly, other people do.
So I decided to commit to a new podcast: An Experiment: 60 Seconds of Johanna’s WIP for twelve weeks. How hard could it be?
It wasn’t hard—although it did challenge me. I had outtakes when I read fiction that made me laugh. I also had an outtake when I had to record after skin cancer surgery. I wasn’t worried about speaking. But I had bandages covering my face. I finally decided to do an outtake with my bandage, and a real video with my static picture as the image.
Guess which video got more views?
