60 Seconds of Johanna’s WIP October 26, 2023

2023 Holiday SpectacularMy experiment continues. My cold is better, but I needed an outtake for this one.

Transcript:

I’m Johanna Rothman, and this is 60 Seconds of Johanna’s WIP for October 26, 2023, where I read an excerpt of just a minute of some writing in progress.

This excerpt is from a short story, currently titled “A Dreidel Ball Miracle,” which will be published in the Holiday Spectacular Kickstarter, link below.

Emily Gould walked into the ballroom at the fancy Boston Harbor hotel and could not decide if she was delighted or appalled. All those dreidels.

Swags of multicolored dreidels decorated the walls, four separate sparkling white dreidels hung from the ceiling, as if they were small disco balls. Then there were the puffy white dreidels decorating the bars in each corner of the room.

It looked as if the dreidels had all gotten married and had children, grandchildren, and more. And with the dreidel song playing softly in the background, the room looked like a dreidel miracle.

A frazzled woman in black from head to toe—literally, with black hair so deep it must be dyed, black peplum blouse, black leggings, and black sneakers—rushed up to her. “We’re not open yet!”

The outtake, where it took me three takes to finally read one of the sentences. Yes, I'm snorting:
