Have you joined the Pinterest craze? Plenty of lifestyle brands and retailers are embracing this highly-engaging image sharing social website, which is very popular with women. But what about consultants? How can you use Pinterest to promote your business?

First of all, what is Pinterest?
Pinterest essentially lets a user discover, bookmark (a.k.a., “pin”) and organize images onto custom theme-based boards. Each image links back to the original website where it was found. Users can follow a specific board or all boards of another Pinterest user. Like other social media, you get to share your ideas and inspire your audience, but now with striking imagery. So far, the most popular categories are fashion, crafts, food, interior design, hobbies and leisure, books and literature and visual art and design.

What are ways you can use Pinterest for your consulting business?
If you’re building your personal brand or corporate image, Pinterest can serve as a visual extension of your brand to help clients understand who you are. These images should not be ho-hum, but engaging, inspiring, unique and useful! Here are a few ideas to pin:

  • Marketers: Informative infographics that support your work
  • Website designers: Screenshots of interesting pages you’ve developed
  • Real estate agents: Beautiful homes you’ve recently sold
  • Any consultant: Photos of clients you’ve helped to achieve their goals, photos of you speaking at events, business books you’re reading, inspiring quotes, exclusive content such as your presentation slides or video clips, images from (and that link to) your blog posts

Interesting article. It is funny how pinterest is primarily used by women. I never would have thought of it as a marketing tool.
