Visitors to 2030 might be forgiven for thinking that among the many changes they see—in everything from communications technology and personal transportation to grocery shopping—the chemicals plant they pass on the highway isn’t included. It will look familiar, maybe reassuringly so.

That’s because they haven’t seen what the plant looks like from within.
