Consulting Zen

Ahh yes, there we were. Meeting with the SVP of a potential client. He's not from this functional department, he was sent here to clean it up. Meeting is going well, we are getting through all of the introductions etc... then it's my turn. I tell him my background and experience. Then the question:

"So, you've been a consultant for a long time. Have you ever had a real job?"

I felt very small.

same experience,
except in MBA course -
professor was daft.

(sorry, I'm still on the haiku kick...)

but seriously, the professor asked if anyone had a job where they did [something], and one of my colleagues said, "during my time at PWC..." and the professor interrupted, "that's consulting, not a job!"
