The Screaming Sellers

The Screaming Sellers

I love the videos of the guys (it’s never women, only men) striding across a stage, shouting into a mike, telling people how to “sell.” They always seem on the verge of a heart attack or some kind of spasm. They get red in the face and sweaty. It’s like they’re exhorting the audience to follow them, over the top, we can win this! But the only thing they’ve ever sold themselves are the seats in that audience.

Providing value to people is how you create wealth, not by entering the arena as some kind of demented gladiator. If you haven’t noticed, the entire idea of “selling” is evaporating. The emphasis today and tomorrow is on evangelism, word-of-mouth, peer-to-peer referral, and enabling the buyer to easily and comfortably buy.

It’s about brand, not bluster.

Imagine one of these “screamers” actually trying to sell in someone’s office? If anyone threw them out the window they could claim self-defense, since they were being bored to death.
